Lacrosse

Field/Hall Thursday, 3.30pm-4.30pm

 

Learn basic skills to be able to handle a Lacrosse Ball effectively and score goals. These skills include scooping, cradling and shooting, in addition to passing and catching using left and right hand passes/catches.

 

Learn and understand checking and dodging techniques and the importance of practise. Work together as a team, learning the skills required through fun activities.

Develop your sporting skills by actively taking part in badminton!

 

You will get the opportunity to improve your skills and will be able to play games and enter tournaments.

Improve your confidence and self-esteem, while taking part in fun drama activities. 

 

You may get the opportunity to participate in the School Shakespeare Festival in the Drill Hall, perform in front of your peers in assemblies, or perform in church for the Easter Service to represent the school.

 

During the sessions you will be able to use different drama techniques and performance skills.

 

 

 

Gospel Singing Choir

 

 

 

 

Years 3/4/5/6, with Mrs Hollamby & Mrs Fane

5FM Classroom. Friday 3.30pm-5.00pm

 

Come together with other children to collectively enjoy singing. You will build your confidence and get the opportunity to perform on different occasions. You will get to sing uplifting Christian and morality songs, fitting in with our school ethos.

 

You may get the opportunity to perform at events such as the Nettleham Carnival and the National School Choir event, and will be able to sing in two parts and harmonies. 

 

Bowls 

Years 4/5/6 Tuesday, 3.30pm-4.45pm 

Coached by Club Members at Nettleham Bowling Green (meet in the hall to walk to the club). 

 

  • Learn the fine art of Bowls. 

  • Use equipment designed for beginner bowlers.

  • Encourage commitment and enjoyment in learning a new skill

 

At the end of the term the children will have a greater understanding of Bowls and the terminology such as ditch, tactics (including block shots), the jack, draw shot, the head, the drive and the upshot.

Book Club 

 

 

 

 

Year 3

(Led by Hannah, Ella and Sophia from Year 4)

Develop reading skills with books and scripts, and be inspired to read more fiction! You'll get the opportunity to act out scripts, and will listen to each other reading within a group. You will be able to listen to the opinion of others, and read some really enjoyable books together.

Learn about the processes and techniques of archaeological excavation.

 

Gain an understanding and an interest in how information is gained from archaeology, and how it uncovers the past.

 

Get the chance to do excavation activities in outdoor sites.   

 

ICT Mayokun

 

 

 

 

Years 3/4/5/6, with Sam & John (Year 5)

ICT suite, Wednesday 12.45pm-13.15pm 

 

Learn aspects of computer programmes such as Scratch, and improve your computing skills in small group settings. 

You will be able to use the computer more independently and will learn planning, keyboard and building of programmes skills.

Improve fitness and agility, in addition to footballing skills and techniques such as dribbling, passing, shooting, heading, and positioning. 

 

Learn the rules of football, enjoy learning a new skill and being part of a team, get to play games and have the opportunity to represent the school in competitions. 

 

Bell Ringing

All Saints Church, Nettleham (meet in school Hall to walk over), Thursday 3.30pm-4.30pm

 

Learn a new skill, make friends and have fun. You will be able to make new friends, will learn how to ring bells correctly, earn badges, and will gain a greater understanding of campanology (bell ringing) as a whole. 

 

Tag Rugby

Learn the rules and tactics associated with Tag Rugby. Improve your fitness, speed and agility. Have fun, working as part of a team and develop a greater understanding of the sport.

 

Get the opportunity to represent the school after practising handling, passing, catching, running, tackling, defending and attacking.  

 

Cricket

Learn the basics of cricket, including: stance, back swing, forward and backward defensive shots.

 

Learn the rules of cricket, the importance of practise, concentration, and using the correct equipment. 

 

Learn the techniques required to help improve your game and get the chance to represent the school in cricket matches.

Write a variety of stories starting with adventures, using story mountains etc. Write in pairs or independently, and be introduced to objects and characters to develop a story.

Get the opportunity to work with Imogen and Jessie from Year 6, and be encouraged to write exciting and interesting stories.

Year 4 - Mrs Stephens 

4HB Classroom, Monday 3.30pm-4.30pm

 

Through a variety of creative and practical activities, you will engage in the process of designing and making.

 

You will look at existing products such as cushion covers and broaches, and will discuss suitable materials for the job, and will design and make using a range of tools.

 

 

Through a plan, you will learn skills such as hand sewing, machine sewing, and evaluating suitable materials and their finished product.  

 

The outcome is a quality finished product! 

 

 

 

Hurricane Sports

 

 

 

 

Years 3/4 (Autumn Term) - Multi-Skills, before school session

 

Multi-Sport Participation 

 

Hurricane sports offer high quality sports provision for children aged 4-18 years, and create a fun and interactive learning environment. 


Their main outcome is to support Sport England and increase sports participation across a range of sporting national governing bodies using their initiatives to engage the population.
