Learning Activities

Health & Well-being Programme

(ages 10-14)

Louth Campus - Monks' Dyke Road, Louth, LN11 9AW.

 

Weekly 1 hour session (up to 5 weeks), Wednesdays 3.45-4.45pm. 

 

Available to year 7 and 8 MDTC students, and 10-11 year olds, if they have a passport from their own school.

 

Each session is broken down into 1 hour lessons. These include:

- Motivational Skills

- Coping Strategies and Problem Solving

- Nutritional Foods and Healthy Options

- Body Image & Self-Concept

- The Feel Good Factor  

 

 

 

Learning to Code 

(ages 10-14)

Weekly 1 hour session (up to 5 weeks), Wednesdays 3.30-4.30pm

 

Available to year 7 and 8 MDTC students, but also available to 10-11 year olds if they have a passport provided by their own school.

 

Each session is broken down into one hour lessons. These include – The hour of code (angry birds); scratch tutorial (helicopter maze), light- bot; pseudo code – minion movement; Code-Combat.

An Introduction to
Coaching and Leading

(ages 10-14)

Weekly 1 hour session (up to 6 weeks) - Some voluntary time assisting in lessons/in clubs or at break/lunch with peers will be required (to be carried out in own time) - supporting evidence can be obtained via photographs, statements, videos etc.

 

Available to year 7 and 8 MDTC students, and 10-11 year olds if they have a passport provided by their own school. 

 

Develop Coaching and Leading of small activities in sports! 

 

Students will be able to deliver a warm-up to a small group, demonstrate the stretches required for the activity being carried out, be able to explain rules and referee/umpire some modified games for small groups. They will also be able to discuss how they feel their session went, indentifying areas of strength and areas needing further development. They will then complete a small evidence portfolio including some 'experience' hours.
