Tag Rugby

Years 5 & 6 

Autumn term

 

 

 

Learn the rules and tactics associated with Tag Rugby, improve your fitness, your speed and your agility!

 

Work and train as part of a team and get the opportunity to represent your school at a local tag rugby festival! 

 

Take part in training drills which involve the practise and improvement of handling, passing, catching, running, tackling, defending and attacking. 

 

Play mini tag rugby matches and get involved in competitive play!

Cross Country Club 

 

 

 

 

Years 5 & 6

Autumn term onwards: 45minutes per week.

 

Learn the rules and tactics associated with cross country running! Improve your fitness, speed, agility, toughness and ability to focus on a target. Improve your ability to work and train as part of a team, and develop a greater understanding of effective running. 

 

There will be opportunity for 10 members to be chosen to represent the school during interschool cross country league races! 

Warm up during every session

 

Children will run short competitive races during training sessions. 

 

 

High Five Netball

Years 5 & 6 

Autumn, Spring and Summer terms (8 weeks x 45 minutes per term). 

 

Warm up every session through games that will teach you skills needed in the game. Take part in training drills which involve the practise and improvement of handling, passing, catching, shooting, pivoting, defending and attacking!

 

Improve your fitness, speed, agility, and work as part of a team to learn the rules and tactics associated with High Five netball.

 

Play netball matches and get involved in competitive play! There will be the opportunity for 9 members to be chosen to represent the school at a High Five netball festival. If successful, they will then go through to the County finals in March!

 

 

 

Computing Club

Ages 7 - 11

30 minutes

 

-Understand basic coding Scratch/Kodu, and start to programme your own simple computer games.

Work independently with adult support on programming simple games on Scratch/Kodu.  

 

Chess Club 

Years 3-6

 

Autum term onwards: 30 minutes per week

 

- Learn how to set up a chess game.

- Know how each of the pieces moves

- Learn the rules of chess

- Play competitive and co-operative games against peers.

 

Develop your confidence with playing chess and be able to play against different people. Get the chance to take part in a chess tournament at the end of the year!

Independently set up a chess game, play against a partner and practise following the rules of the game. 

 

 

 

 

Choir

Ages 7-11yrs (KS2)

30 minutes

 

- Learn and sing new songs

- Work and listen as a team

- Understand how to control your breathing and use your voice effectively

 

Take part in different warm up exercises. Work as part of a group, learning and singing new songs leading to performances within school and the community.

 

Sing at the Christmas Fair and Christmas lunch!

 

Gardening Club

Ages 5-11yrs

1 hour every Tuesday after school

 

-Learn how to plant, take care of, and harvest vegetables. 

-Look after the environment and local wildlife.

-Work as part of a team to care for the vegetable garden. 

 

You will have the opportunity to plant seeds or plants, with the aim of using the produce in the school's cooking lessons. You will learn how to produce using compost, how to care for the plants, and how to look after wildlife by providing suitable habitats for them. On rainy days, indoor activities such as making plant markers, bird feeders, and planning will take place. 

 

 

 

Nature Club

Ages 5-11

1 hour, Wednesday after school

 

Be able to name the various plant life and creatures found in the school grounds. 
Understand habitats and why certain creatures live in these areas.

Understand what grows at certain times of the year and why.

Understand the life cycles and food chains evident in the ground.

Appreciate the world around you!

 

Hunt for creatures, study them, look at and sample the plant life and obtain a general understanding and appreciation of the world on your door step. The children will learn about scientific things such as food chains, habitats, life cycles and the various features that creatures have in order to survive in the wild. 

 

 

 

Craft Club

Ages 5-7yrs

1 hour per week

 

- Learn specific techniques to attach materials together (such as sticking and sewing).

- Follow instructions and designs.

- Cut and measure various materials accurately.

- Create their own designs to a certain specification.

- Decorate and finish the products according to the purpose of the product.

 

Learn and experience different crafts and the techniques involved in making various things with various materials.

 

 

 

 

Photography

Yrs 4-5

1 hour for 6 weeks, starting in term 2

 

To learn about and experience using photographs in terms of: composition, landscapes, portraits, fine art photography.

 

Learn and experience different crafts and the techniques involved in making various things with various materials.

 

- Complete a different topic each week (e.g. 'My friends and I' or 'The World around us') and incorporate the technical aspects into the fun sessions.

- The sessions are designed to be a fun and creative introduction to digital photography, and are structured to allow any budding photographer to take stunning photographs on your own devices or equipment, whether you're operating a simple compact camera or a digital bridge/DSLR.

The main emphasis of the workshop will be composition and working with lighting techniques, covering a range of subjects such as portraiture, still life, landscapes and architecture, forced perspective and a photographic “treasure hunt”.

 

Children should provide their own devices, fully charged or with a plentiful supply of batteries.
